Amalgat (Dance in Micmac language) is a project started since August 2003 through Quebec province. I photographed many religious events and popular social meeting that concern dance and gesture. My search leans towards what makes the socialization of people through certain search of ease and rituality. Not in family, in their domestic interior, but outside, in public spaces which generally bring together people peacefully rather than underline the divergences of opinion, differences of social status or origins. The community is photographed through the dance and gesture in those micro-societies. Which are these moments of "leisure", of "idleness" imagined by the communities? Located outside of work, they act like relief valve, ritual, of all times, essential.

A book was published in December 2007. The exhibit is on tour in Quebec province
